How to Spot Great Leadership

 Leadership

An article written by Mike Wyatt on Forbes.com recently identified “8 Ways To Spot Great Leadership”.  There are great leaders throughout history and throughout industries.  Reagan.  MLK Jr.  Steve Jobs.  Hillary Clinton.  Condoleeza Rice.  Donald Trump. Paul Tagliabue.  Rosa Parks.  The names could go on and on.  Some you may disagree with their philosophies.  Some of you may even disagree that they should be included on a list like this.  But they all possess leadership traits.

Here are some of our favorites from the Wyatt article:

* Not tone deaf – The best leaders are tuned in to the emotional needs of those whom they serve. They engage, they listen, they empathize, and they acknowledge. They treat you as a colleague not a subordinate.

* Willing to take the hit – Real leaders are not afraid to give credit, nor are the fearful of taking blame. They are more than willing to admit their faults and mistakes.

Alignment – The best leaders are those who operationalize values, vision, mission and strategy – this only happens through an understanding an alignment of a shared purpose. No purpose = no passion = no leadership.
