The Dallas Chapter APA and Dallas HR held their 3rd annual joint meeting today, the event was titled, “Bridging the Gap Between HR and Payroll.”

Business Development Directors Mimi Rader, Liz Turbidy, and Deborah Bell attended the 3rd annual joint meeting today hosted by The Dallas Chapter APA and Dallas HR. This was the largest meeting the Dallas Chapter APA has had since 2001 with an attendance of 289 including both payroll and human resource professionals.

Special guest Nicole Myers, CPP and President of Texas Payroll Conference, was in town visiting from Houston and gave an announcement about the upcoming conference to be held in Lubbock, Texas this fall, “Are you ready for some payroll?” She was encouraging attendees to register going along with the football theme of the event. Drew Pearson, former NFL Dallas Cowboys wide receiver, was mentioned as being one of the scheduled keynote speakers. Register Here








Dallas APA & Dallas HR Lunch with Deborah Bell

Marlene Diaz, Conference Services & Marketing Director of HR Southwest, encouraged attendees to attend their upcoming conference this fall as well to be held in Ft. Worth, Texas. Their theme is, “The New Frontier on the Road to Excellence”, and one of keynote speakers will be Carrie Fisher from Star Wars.

Special Agent Joseph Black and two other agents from the Department of Homeland Security who are a part of ICE ( Immigration and Customs Enforcement) and the program, IMAGE (ICE Mutual Agreement between Government and Employers), were the guest speakers today. They enlightened everyone with a wealth of information on some of the basic security features on documents such as the Legal Permanent Resident Card, Social Security Card, and the Drivers License. They were informative about these security features, and how to determine whether a card is fraudulent or whether it has been altered. They discussed the importance of employers knowing how to verify these documents most frequently submitted by new employees when completing the form I-9, and also touched on “E-Verify” as being an efficient and effective method of verifying these documents.
